I am a wife and a mom to three very active boys. The ratio of men to women in our house means we spend most every weekend watching some type of ballgame.
A key factor that shaped my faith as a young girl was watching my parents serve at church. They were always available to help and usually worked behind the scenes where it was never for show. Their simple, humble service and willingness to say "yes" to whatever was needed has been one of my greatest life lessons. As a college student, I started to discover for myself why I believe what I believe. It seems every college experience offers at least one special teacher who has the ability to make a real impact. As for me, I was fortunate to have a professor who wisely advised me not to base my beliefs merely on what I've been told or some hollow tradition. He encouraged me to always go to the Bible to find the truth for myself. I've never forgotten that. It's a lesson I've used again and again.
My favorite Bible verse is Luke 22:43, when Jesus was praying in the Garden of Gethsemane. Then an angel from heaven appeared and strengthened him. I always imagine God sending his angels to strengthen me when I pray for his help.
I started working at The Hills as the Power Kids Director. A few months later, I was asked to work in the Kids Ministry for a couple days each week. That led to what I do today: Kids Ministry Volunteer Director, communications for Southlake Campus and managing the Southlake Porch. I truly believe that every child deserves to receive a message that they enjoy and understand every Sunday morning. Jesus should always be exciting!
My hope and constant goal is to provide a safe, loving place where kids have fun learning about Christ, while building lasting friendships with each other.
