Mike Washburn

Executive Minister - Senior Staff

North Richland Hills, Southlake, Watch Online, West Fort Worth

Connie and I married on November 1, 2013. Between us we have four children: Randi Freeby and husband Eric, Taylor Johnson and husband Tyrell, Branden Smith and wife Katheryn, and Paul Michael, who's in heaven. Our children have given us six grandchildren whom we adore.

I was blessed to grow up in a Godly family and in a wonderful little church in Midland, Texas. That consistent environment established early in life became the foundation that developed my own faith in Jesus. I’m thankful for the faith that was demonstrated to me because it has carried me through some of life’s most difficult journeys. I lost my parents relatively early in life to hard diseases. I have also lost two wives to cancer. Were it not for a strong belief in the resurrected Jesus, this life would not make sense. But because Jesus rose, life has meaning and hope.

Micah 6:8 is the verse that has formed my character. God gave me this verse at a time in my life where my character and faith were being developed as my own. He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

I started working at The Hills Church in 1984. I came here as the singles minister serving this church with a large group of singles from all ages.

My hope for The Hills Church is that she fulfill God’s calling here and around the world. We are called to make followers of Jesus. I hope our boldness in proclaiming Him will grow until we are known for how we impact the DFW area by bringing people into a saved relationship with Jesus. I also want us to fulfill our calling to grow followers. The world needs to see mature followers who are sold out for the Kingdom of God. We need to make God look good wherever we go.
